When Your Child Needs You Most (But Can’t Say It Out Loud)
Children rarely announce, “I’m overwhelmed” or “I need connection.” Instead, it shows up as clinginess, big feelings, or behaviour that feels out of character. These moments can be challenging, especially when you’re tired or stretched thin, but they’re also invitations — small signals that your child is reaching for you.
One of the most powerful things you can do is pause before responding. A simple, “I’m here. Let’s figure this out together,” can shift the entire moment. You don’t need the perfect script. You just need presence.
When children feel safe enough to fall apart with you, it’s not a sign you’re doing something wrong. It’s a sign you’re their safe place.
